Passive House Seminar - 12 May 2011
Passive House Seminar– a design methodology and voluntary performance standard for optimised energy use in buildings. It results in buildings that require little or no energy use for heating or cooling, have excellent internal thermal comfort and low primary energy use. See how you can profit from many years of experience in Passivhaus building technology.
The seminar will focus on the following themes:
Paul McAlister - Paul McAlister Architects will open the seminar with an explanation of the design criteria for the German Passivhaus system and how this is achieved in practice. He will also showcase the six new Passive Houses being constructed as an exemplar project near Dungannon.
Richard Bell- Solmatix will demonstrate a ‘non conventional’ heating system for a passive house and how this is practically and economically achieved. This heat pump technology is also suitable for zero carbon, Code 5 and 6 dwellings.
Eamonn Connolly - SIPFIT will speak on the practicalities of achieving the ultra low U-values for wall and roof construction. He will outline how airtightness and thermal bridges must be a key consideration for Passive House certification.
