We met Paul McAlister five years ago when we were thinking of building a passive house. We were always interested in building a house that was comfortable twelve months of the year but without very high fuel bills. This is our first build project and we are delighted with how it has turned out.

Áras na bhFál is a 4 storey office block at the corner of Broadway and the Falls Road in Belfast. The building houses a number of organisations working in the Irish language sector at a regional and national level. The building is bright, modern, welcoming and stylish which accords with the presence we wish to convey - of a language with ancient roots which is relevant and inclusive and has a role to play in a contemporary urban setting.
It is a serious business to make sure you don't mess up a £2m building project, but we shared a lot of laughs with Scott Montgomery and the eponymous Paul McAlister during the design and construction phase of this building. They helped us bring our ideas to life, they listened to us and brought added value to the project, but most of all their approach was based on partnership - partnership with the client, the design team and the builder.

Very possibly the best Architect on the Island of Ireland. Paul and Scott designed our house in 2016. When given the brief they presented us with plans a few weeks later, they had everything we asked for spot-on and then some more. Their attention to detail was phenomenal. Having scoured the internet and researched architects, Paul McAlister was our choice. The reason we chose Paul was that from reading his story/biography he seemed passionate about architecture and it was a choice for him to follow this route or fine art, it was a no-brainer for us that someone with such passion would design our house.
