Criteria: This Education Authority minor works project had the primary intention of making the 6 classrooms arranged around an open quadrangle ‘warmer’ for the pupils and teachers. The design provided skylight natural daylight into the two new resource rooms which infilled the previously open quadrangle. Glazed screens along the walls of the resource rooms allowed light to penetrate giving the feeling of space and openness to the enclosed corridors. The enclosure of the quadrangle immediately created a thermal buffer to the outside and the existing classrooms are now much more comfortable.
